“This is reMarkable Paper Pure. It’s a paper tablet.”
Two films for the global launch of reMarkable Paper Pure, each built around a single use case — one on meetings and one on reviewing documents. Both sit under the campaign tagline, “Made for thinking”.
They had to explain three things at once: The brand, the category, and the benefits of our newest paper tablets. That meant reaching people who were unfamiliar with reMarkable as a brand or paper tablets as a category, as well as existing customers who already owned a different model. It needed to be clear and descriptive, aimed at the middle and lower funnel.
Shot over two days in Oslo. Produced in English, French and German.
Paper Pure was positioned differently from reMarkable’s existing Pro-line paper tablets. It was to be sold as an entry-level, more affordable paper tablet for a mass-market audience, against the premium reMarkable Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move.
The films had to do two jobs at once: explain the product and be engaging to an audience. I developed a concept built to deliver a lighter, brighter and more playful tone — a completely new direction for the brand. The result was a simple, to-the-point explainer.
The humour is deadpan. The narration stays dry and matter-of-fact, and the comedy comes from the flatness of the delivery. reMarkable had never used humour in a film before.
Since the humour hinged entirely on rhythm, every beat was written with precision, fine-tuning cadence, tempo and musicality syllable by syllable for comedic effect. The runtime is marked on the page throughout.
