Five films, published as “My reMarkable”

“As a storyteller, clarity is always my number one goal.”

The project

A branded documentary series built on social proof, featuring five high-profile subjects from film, food, business, education and academia. Filmed in New York in partnership with a US agency known for documentary-style brand work. One person per film, speaking in their own words about a product that is already part of how they work.

Filming ran over two weeks a month apart, with two subjects during the first shoot and three in the second.

  • Brian McGinn — Emmy-nominated director and showrunner, co-creator of Chef’s Table
  • Dr. Jonah Berger — Wharton marketing professor and New York Times bestselling author of Contagious
  • Becca Millstein — founder and CEO of Fishwife
  • Dr. Adrian Haugabrook — higher-education executive, strategist and TED speaker
  • Robyn Berkley — wellness entrepreneur and founder of Live The Process
The idea

The five were picked to cover different professions and different working habits, so the films could show the product across a range of uses. The goal was to present brand and product without it sounding like an ad.

We worked closely with the agency across the whole project, on research, casting, pre-interviews, and scripting. Pre-interviews let us dig into each candidate’s story, their work, and how the paper tablet fit into that. Those conversations set each film’s storyline and matched the product benefits to the way that person works. The proto-scripts and on-camera questions were written based on their existing answers, staying mostly true to their own words. The cutdowns were built from a combination of scripted hooks and real quotes.

My role

Client-side narrative lead, from research and interviews through to the final edits.

  • Background research
  • Casting assessment on brand fit, presence and group balance
  • Developed questions for the pre-interviews
  • Selected the strongest transcript material, and built story directions and hooks from it
  • On set, working with the on-camera talent on message and delivery
  • Safeguarding brand, product portrayal and story
  • Leading the storytelling feedback through the offline and online edits
  • Hooks and soundbite selects for the 30, 15 and 6-second conversion cutdowns
The script feedback

I read the protoscript against the full transcripts and worked through it line by line, marking what to add, what to cut, and which quotes to use instead. A few of the changes:

Proto script draft
Stories form the entire world around us. The key to great storytelling is clarity. As a storyteller, reMarkable helps me find clarity in my work.
Change: real quote about his work
I'm traveling. I'm eating. I'm filming things. So for me, having my reMarkable, it allows me to keep my office with me at all times.
Change: the highlighter
The thing that I love about the color on the reMarkable, it actually feels real. It feels like I'm using a yellow highlighter.
Change: work-related usage
I use the reMarkable to make selects and transcripts. That's a big part of my job, getting rid of what's not necessary and highlighting the things that are important.
From the script feedback memo, 2025. Film lines transcribed from the published cut.
Made for reMarkable with Convicts, a creative and production agency in New York. Work led by the agency, developed in collaboration with our creative team, consisting of one marketing manager, one designer, and me. Five films of roughly a minute each, with 30, 15 and 6-second cutdowns.
